Children's Heart Project

Hope everyone had a fun Monday off of work! We had such a fun an INSPIRING Monday so I thought I would tell all of you about it...

As many of you may (or may not) know my niece Ashleigh who is now 3 years old underwent heart surgery a while back..it went great and now is doing awesome! Ashleigh's whole ordeal inspired Matt's brother and his wife to do something very special last Christmas. Through an organization called Samaritan's Purse, they raised money to bring not one but TWO children from Mongolia who needed life saving Heart surgery to the United States..Ashleigh's heart surgeon at Childrens Hospital agreed to do both surgeries at no charge!

Both of the children (a little boy about the same age as Bailey named Byra and a little girl named Nandia who is about 10 or 11) arrived here in St Louis about 6 weeks ago..they both had their surgery and everything went great! They have been spending their last couple of weeks here doing things like going to the Botanical Gardens, the zoo, Six Flags, etc....and having so much fun. They also got baptized last week so needless to say this was a life changing trip for them!Yesterday we got to meet them, here are some pics:

This is Byra and Bailey. He LOVED Bailey. He and his mom live in the remote mountains in Mongolia and are basically herders and follow their animals around wherever they go... they live very very far away from any doctor. They live in a this tent like thing called a Ger...looks something like this:

Bailey and Byra hit it off big time!

Below is a picture of Byra and his mom, Nandia (on the left) and her mom, their interpreter, Matt's parents, and Kate.

When we left Nandia told Bailey "I Love You"! It was so sweet, she has learned a lot of English for being so young and only being here such a short amount of time!

Isnt it crazy to think that a couple of months ago they were in Mongolia needing heart surgery and yesterday they were at the Biermanns eating pork steaks and potato salad?? Pretty cool if you ask me.

Hope everyone else had a great Memorial Day weekend!!

Nan

As many of you know my "Nan" is my grandma. She is a beautiful, fabulous, wonderful, sweet, caring, and the list could go on an on if you know what I mean. She's the best. And since I use this blog to talk about what is going on in my life Im going to talk about my Nan today. On Thursday she went to the oral surgeon to get a (somewhat) simple procedure done...and to make a VERY LONG story short has been in intensive care ever since Thursday. She is going to be FINE..she just needs everyones prayers for a quick recovery!!

TOP TEN REASONS WHY I LOVE MY NAN (why she rocks:)( oh and not in any particular order)

1. She is one of the sweetest human beings on earth

2. She lives an hour and a half from any major city and still is one of the most stylish people I know!

3. She loves loves loves loves my baby girl.

4. She understands me.

5. She makes me laugh.

6. She also had to put up with me when I was a teenager and still loves me.

7. She is the best cook...and introduced me to one of my all time favorite desserts..Ritz Cracker Pie.

8. She has great stories.
9. She (and my grandpa) let me tag along to horse shows with them when I was little. And they didnt mind when I would make them play silly games like "name that capital" on a ten hour car ride.

10. She has always been there for me no matter what.

The list could go on and on. So if everyone could keep my Nan in their prayers that would be awesome!!! I know she will be better soon!

Help please.

One of the signs your child is ready to be potty trained (supposedly) is when they start telling you when they need to use the potty. So recently Bailey started pointing at her bottom and yelling poop! poop! Which I think is pretty straight forward....

So I went out and bought a pretty pink baby potty ( I know..Ill try to stop saying potty)..it even starts singing some fun princess song and lights up when they do their business! But so far it has just been a place for all of her babies to go "peepee"..She will even put her baby on the potty (oops) and stick a sippy cup in there with her:(
I guess maybe shes not ready yet?!

I also need to say "Way to Go!!" to my big puppy Fletch..he had a little minor surgery yesterday and has been a major trooper. He also was put on arthritis medicine:( I guess he's not such a puppy anymore (but always will be to me).
Here he is recuperating:

I know I am biased but he is one handsome boy!

Our weekend....

FRIDAY: We did nothing. Bailey and I hung out while Matt was at Football. He didnt get home until pretty late so I cleaned and watched tv...fun!

SATURDAY: Jessica and Manoli's wedding! It was so much fun. The wedding was at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox church. I had never been to a greek wedding...but the ceremony was really neat and it was a beautiful wedding!

The reception was at Piper Palm House which I had never been to either and it was so pretty.

Outside of Piper Palm House where the cocktail hour was prior to reception

Jess and I (her dress was gorgeous)

Matt and I having fun on our big night out...(this time no one was calling us telling us our baby had 103 temp:)

My friend Toni and I

Greek Dancing!

The wedding was so fun and this time I got to stay until the very end so that was even better. Jess and Manoli make the perfect couple and I am sooo happy for the both of them!!!!!!!

SUNDAY: Mothers Day! We started out the day going to breakfast with my mom which was yummy. Then Matt took Bailey home and my mom and I went shopping. I had forgotten how relaxing shopping can be when you dont have a toddler trying to get out of her stroller the whole time, or crying because she threw her pacifier on the ground and I wont give it back because its dirty! I love you Bailey but shopping by myself every once in a while isnt so bad:)
We bought lots of stuff...mostly for Bailey of course...we love shopping for B.

Then I went home and hung out with Matt and Bailey for the afternoon. It was relaxing and WEIRD to get to hang out with Matt on a weekend day. We usually have football so going to the grocery store together was a big treat! I know it sounds ridiculous but it was fun just to get to hang out and do normal every day stuff together.

That night we went out and got pizza with his mom and dad. I ate way too much..but it was so good!

MONDAY: This is Bailey's last week of nursery school before the summer. I think Bailey is going to miss it, she loves her teachers and all of her little friends..

If anyone is still reading at this point does anyone have any idea what a good gift is for a teacher? I think I want to get her teachers a little gift just to say thanks for being so sweet to my baby.

After I picked her up from school we went to the park because it was so nice out!

Bailey had fun! She wont pose for the camera though! This was the best pic I could get..
Hope everyone had a great weekend and all of you moms had a great mother's day!

Weekend Wrap up

This weekend was busy busy busy. One of my best friends from high school Katie got married this weekend! It was by far one of the nicest weddings I have ever been to..

On Friday we had the bridal luncheon and rehearsal dinner. Bridal Luncheon was at Mosaic (yummy) and the rehearsal was at the Four Seasons. I hadn't been to the new Four Seasons downtown and it was so nice!
Kim posing in front of the great view from where cocktail hour was before rehearsal. You can also see the Arch but somehow I didnt manage to get a pic of that.

Such cool centerpieces at the rehearsal...real grapes, artichokes, etc...pictures dont do it justice..
It was an AMAZING rehearsal...

You would think I would have taken more pics but I kept forgetting about my camera :(

WEDDING DAY...

On the way to Botanical Gardens...Katie looks BEautiful!

Katie putting her dress on!

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. It was in the Japanese Garden at the Botanical Gardens. The weather kept saying that it was going to rain, but we had the most perfect weather!

Afterwards the reception was at the City Museum and it was a blast!

Our bridesmaid dresses were emerald green and gorgeous! I loved them!Kim and Daisy

It was a beautiful wedding and I wish I would have taken more pictures! But I kept forgetting that I had my camera. I was also distracted because my mom had called during the festivities to tell me that Bailey had 103.3 temp...so Matt and I left the reception very early to go and take care of our baby. She is feeling much better today but still has a fever. I hated not getting to hang out with Katie and the girls longer but motherly duty called.

For those of you who havent seen Bailey's latest haircut:

She WILL NOT let me take her picture lately, this is the best one I could get. She moves too fast for me to get any good pictures! But this one is still pretty darn cute even though she has her eyes closed!

And finally..today I thought Bailey was FINALLY eating. I gave her a bag of crackers and she took off with them and I was so happy because since she has been sick she has not been eating at all. I was trying to get ready for football today and I hear her talking in the other room to someone...

So she wasn't eating. anything. But Fletcher who hasn't missed a meal EVER was eating all of her crackers. She finally ate later today so now I am happy:)

Hope everyone had a GREAT weekend! I know I did.

CONGRATS TO BRIAN AND KATIE!!!

oh and Kim let me know if 4 seasons brunch was everything Jay-z says it is...Im so bummed I missed it:(
